Delhi Daredevils beat Rajasthan Royals by 14 runs on Sunday, a defeat that will further dent the chances of the defending champions reaching the semifinal.
Chasing 151 for a win, the Royals suffered again at the top of the order with both Rob Quinley and Graeme Smith falling within the first two overs. Johan Botha and Ravindra Jadeja made useful contributions in the middle order but they were not good enough to make a difference to the outcome of the match. Big hitting Yusuf Pathan made just 1 off five balls, while the lower middle-order didn’t contribute significantly.
Munaf Patel struck telling blows to remove Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag but AB de Villiers and Tillakaratne Dilshan played solidly to dig Delhi Daredevils out of a hole in their match against the Rajasthan Royals. The Royals, who need to win this game, to strengthen their chances of reaching the semifinals got off to a great start.
