Delhi HC dismises PIL against Kalmadi

The Delhi high court has dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities committed by the president of the Indian Olympic Association Suresh Kalmadi in the recent Hockey India election.

A bench comprising chief justice Dipak Misra and justice Manmohan refused to entertain the petition saying that there is no need for conducting the probe after the derecognition of the sports body.

The court said there is no need for passing any order on the petition in view of recent decision of governemnt to de-recognise HI.

The sports ministry had on August 6 withdrawn provisional recognition of HI.

The public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by lawyer Ajay Agarwal.
