The Danish team demonstrated high ambition since the game started. Star striker Nicklas Bendtner put Denmark ahead 1-0 in the 35th minute, exploiting a through ball to slot home from the penalty area. Five minutes later, Denmark were lucky to have Sweden shot on the post. 

In the second half, Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was substituted in the 63rd minute. Midfielder Michael Krohn-Dehli grabbed the chance to give Sweden a fatal strike in the 80th minute,taking the score to 2-0 and sealing the game in Denmark's favour, Xinhua reported.

"The match showed this team has so many fantastic opportunities and great potential. Tonight I became more confident and it provides wider aspirations towards the European Championships," Denmark's coach Morten Olsen told Danish broadcaster TV 2 after the match.

Denmark won the UEFA Euro Championship in 1992, and made it as far as the qualifying round in 2008. Both teams have qualified for the 2012 edition.
