There's no denying the fact that MS Dhoni is gifted with an unique sense of timing. Be it smashing bowlers out of the ground or taking major decisions about his career - 'timing' has never deserted him. On a lighter note it can be said that the maverick wicket-keeper batsman left Indian captaincy just when he had to part ways with his old habit of collecting stumps after victories. The reason can't be better explained by anyone else other than Virat Kohli, who had to bear the brunt of technology.

Kohli was speaking to bcci.tv about the incident which took place during the 2nd ODI at Cuttack when Dhoni handed over the match ball to him instead of passing on a wicket. “MS (Dhoni) gave me the match ball in the second game. The stumps are too expensive nowadays and they don’t allow us to take it home. Maybe in Tests its allowed but in shorter formats I am not supposed to pick anything. He gave me the ball and told me it was my first series win as captain and i got it signed by him. It was memorable for me," Kohli revealed the reason why carrying home costly LED stumps, which lights up when the bails are unsettled are a thing of past.

Incidentally, in all ICC tournaments these stumps are used and nowadays all countries are opting for LED stumps in ODI and T20 series that are played in their own backyards. As the stumps light up on being hit, it becomes easier for the umpires to give close run out or stumping decisions. India first used this technology in the 2015 ODI series against New Zealand.
