The executive committee of the Mumbai Hockey Association (MHA) has accused its president Mangha Singh Bakshi of taking unilateral decisions, which are in no interest of the game.

The internal rift has arisen after the city body lost its voting rights with the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) as Bakshi failed to file nominations for the elections on October 1, thus depriving MHA of a representation in the IHF.

In a letter to Bakshi, the members have accused him of having no knowledge about the game and no interest in developing the sport in the city. “Such was his ignorance that he asked the secretary whether it is required to field a team from Mumbai in the junior national championships,” a source said.

Bakshi has been given a 10-day timeframe to reply to the letter,
failing which “it shall be deemed that you are accepting the allegations made against you,” said the letter.
