NEW DELHI: Viewing cricket on television will never be the same any more with the launch of Sports Active Service by Dish TV in cooperation with Zee Sports in the capital on Tuesday.

The service, available through the live broadcast of the DLF Cup tri-series, involving India, Australia and the West Indies in Kuala Lumpur on Zee Sports will only be available to subscribers of Dish TV.

This service will help viewers to see a cricket match from different camera angles like the stump camera view. Besides camera angles, live commentary will be available in four regional languages besides English: Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati and Malayalam.

The Sports Active Service is available in most set-top boxes in the market and software needed for this service will be downloaded via satellite to those, which are in use.

"We are happy to bring to India a digital technology that will transform the way cricket is viewed in the country. The viewer will now have the power to control live sports event on Dish TV," said Jawahar Goel, head of business of Dish TV, during the launch of the service.

Another interesting feature of the service will be that a viewer can watch highlights of the match without waiting for it to finish and see all boundaries and fall of wickets as many times as they desire. Player's statistics and the line-up before the match will also be shown.

Gary Lovejoy, chief operating officer of Zee Sports said this service would soon be introduced in the live coverage of football matches as well.

"Efforts are being made to have the service available during the National Football League and the Federation Cup," a Zee Sports official said.
