The divorce certificates of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik and Ayesha Siddiqui, the Hyderabadi girl whom he married seven years ago, were issued by Wakf Board institute in Hyderabad this evening.
The former Pakistan captain today signed papers to divorce Ayesha, after a compromise was brokered by Hyderabad-based Muslim community leaders, who held hectic negotiations since yesterday.
The 'talaqnama' between Shoaib and Ayesha was submitted at the Darul Qazzat Golconda after which the Golconda Qazi, under whose jurisdiction tennis star Sania Mirza's residence falls, issued the divorce papers, sources said.
Darul Qazzat Golconda is an institute under the state Wakf board which performs marriages and issues divorce certificates apart from counselling.
The divorce would now finally enable Shoaib to marry Sania, whose wedding is scheduled on April 15 in Hyderabad.
