Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has tipped Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to win his fourth Ballon d'Or award this year following victories in the Champions League and the Euro 2016.
The 31-year-old forward has had an impressive season, helping Spanish giants Real win a record-extending 11th Champions League title before guiding Portugal to their first ever major international trophy in Paris this month. And Drogba, who is currently playing in MLS with Canadian side Montreal Impact, has joined the chorus of players who believe Ronaldo should bag the coveted prize this year.
"He (Ronaldo) is a true leader and he deserves the Ballon d'Or for the great work he has done for Real Madrid and Portugal. Although he could not play the whole Euro 2016 final, he was the biggest reason that his team got there," Drogba was quoted as saying by goal.com.
Ronaldo played a key role in Portugal's Euro Championship campaign, scoring a crucial brace in a 3-3 draw with Hungary that took them through to the last-16 round and then the opener in the 2-0 semi-final win over Wales. He also provided three assists in the tournament.
Real are currently using Montreal Impact's training field to prepare for the International Champions Cup.
