England beat World Cup Champions Spain one nil in a hard fought match at the Wembley Stadium here on Saturday evening.
Frank Lampard’s header earned England a hard-fought win over Spain.
According to The Sun, the Three Lions were outclassed in the first half as world and European champions Spain repeatedly claimed possession of the ball and left the hosts chasing shadows.
But when James Milner''s 49th-minute free-kick was nodded onto the post by Darren Bent, stand-in captain Lampard guided the ball home from close range.
Led superbly by man-of-the-match Scott Parker, England then held on to secure only Fabio Capello''s second victory against top-rated opposition in his four years in charge.
It was also the Three Lions'' first outright win over Spain at Wembley since 1968.
