Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash has hailed the national team for playing “superb cricket”.
Ramprakash, who is only three centuries off Sir Don Bradman’s first-class record of 117 hundreds, has watched Andrew Strauss’s men climb the global rankings.
“They’re playing superb cricket. Their planning has been excellent, the batting has been solid and the fast bowling has been hostile,” The Sunday Mirror quoted Ramprakash, as saying.
“And if that hasn’t worked they’ve had the magic of Graeme Swann who has just been absolutely outstanding with his off-spin,” he added.
However, he also felt that the former skipper Kevin Pietersen is under massive pressure from England’s new master-blasters.
“The depth of talent is brilliant. Kevin hasn’t really clicked in one-day cricket and in 50 overs it’s a big surprise to see him not dominating,” Ramprakash said.
“I’m sure the England management will be looking at that because there are lots of people knocking so loudly on the door…England can afford to be ruthless in terms of their selection. Every player is right under the pump,” he added.
