LONDON: Referee Graham Poll has retired reportedly after becoming disillusioned with England's Football Association. Poll drew media attention during a World Cup match when he showed a Croatian player three yellow cards.

An AP report said that the 43-year-old Poll could not cope with the lack of support shown by the FA toward referees after player outbursts.

He said that the FA is weak in handling such issues and observed that the power of the referee have eroded over the years.
