NEW DELHI: Sports broadcaster ESPN on Wednesday struck a deal with DTH operator Tata Sky for carrying its new channel Star Cricket and is negotiating with some cable operators including Hathway and Citi Cable.

The develpment would allow Tata Sky's subscribers to watch the India-England cricket series which begins on Thursday.

ESPN had yesterday tied up with another DTH player Dish TV, besides multi-service operator Incable with operations in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.

"STAR Cricket has received a very positive response from cable operators across the country. Within 15 days from the launch of the channel, STAR Cricket's penetration has reached over 75 per cent of the reach of ESPN and STAR Sports in the country," R C Venkateish, ESPN Software India's Managing Director, said in a statement.

Besides being available in CAS areas, STAR Cricket can be seen in non-CAS areas in all major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, the statement said.
