The Somerset skipper, 34 on Christmas Day, signed a three-year deal yesterday with the option of a further 12 months after that.

The Sun quoted Tresco, who made his debut for Somerset in 1993, as saying: "My aim is to play for as long as I can, at least until I am 40 and beyond, if I am fit enough."
