Fabio Capello will remain as England coach despite his team''s woeful performance at the World Cup, the Football Association (FA) said on Friday.
The Italian's future in the role had been in doubt since the 4-1 defeat by Germany in the last 16 on Sunday but after a meeting of the Club England Board it was unanimously agreed that he would continue in charge.
"We are all still extremely disappointed at our performance in South Africa, and we believed it was important that we took some time to reflect on everything in a calm and considered manner back in England," Club England chairman Dave Richards said on the FA's website (www.thefa.com).
"After fully discussing our performance we remain convinced that Fabio is the best man for the job."
