KOLKATA: Star cricketer Sourav Ganguly on Saturday praised the performance of youngsters in the national squad and said that he was looking forward to his coming assignment with the Bengal team to force his way back to the Indian side.
"The youngsters are doing very well for the Indian team. M S Dhoni, particularly, is superb", Ganguly told newsmen after a practice session.
Asked how he planned to make his way into the Indian team, Ganguly said there was no option other than performing well. The selectors always look for performances," he said.
Ganguly said he was eagerly looking forward to Bengal's upcoming Moin-u-Dowla Cup schedule in Hyderabad.
"I want to do well and help Bengal", he said.
On where he wanted to bat during the Moin-u-Dowla matches, Ganguly said he was ready to bat at any spot.
"Earlier I have batted at No 4 and 5. I also opened in the Duleep trophy. I haven't spoken to Bengal captain Deep Dasgupta on this issue but I am ready to bat at whatever position the team management wants me to do".
Ganguly said he had not received any call from the selectors since his return from England after his County assignment with Northamptonshire.
"They have a packed schedule. They are very busy," he said.
The former Indian skipper said while turning out for Bengal, he had no problems in playing under skipper Dasgupta.
"I am not at all concerned about this. I did not turn out for the state side regularly last year".
