NEW DELHI: Ram Sethi, father of World Billiards Champion Geet Sethi, died after a prolonged illness in Ahmedabad on Saturday. He was 75.

Sethi was undergoing treatment ever since he suffered a paralytic attack in 2001.

The last rites will be performed later in the day after Geet Sethi returned from Nagpur, where he was attending a billiards and snooker camp-cum-selection trials for the Doha Asian Games in December.

Geet, who finished third in the trials, said he was committed to playing in the USA Snooker tournament, beginning on August 15.

"I will go to the United States. Work has to go on," he said from Mumbai, en route to Ahmedabad.

Billiards and Snooker Federation of India Secretary Ravi Tandon expressed the federation's condolences at the passing away of the senior Sethi.
