Haryana to have wrestling Akademi

Rohtak MP, Deepender Singh Hooda said that he would propose the chief minister to open this Akademi at Bahadurgarh sub-division of Jhajjar district.

Rohtak MP, Deepender Singh Hooda today said that the Haryana Government has decided to open a Wrestling Akademi in Jhajjar district to promote traditional sports like Wrestling. He said that he would propose the chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to open this Akademi at Bahadurgarh sub-division of the district.

Deepender was addressing the gathering in a function organised to felicitate Wrestler Praveen Tehlan at village Jassorkheri of Bahadurgarh who had brought laurels to the country by winning the bronze medal at Canada World Cup Wrestling Championship, an official release said here. The people of village Jassorkheri gave a warm welcome to the wrestler for excelling at an international event.

Congratulating Praveen Tehlan for this achievement, the young MP said that it was a matter of extreme pride for the people of this area that Praveen had achieved success at the international arena.

He said that Wrestler of village Asodha, Rajanish Dalal had also been victorious in this championship, thus both the wrestlers had made the people of the area and country proud.

Deepender Hooda said that today, the players of Haryana like Boxer Vijendra, Cricketer, Joginder Sharma and Hockey player Mamta Kharab were gaining fame at international events. Hooda was also of the view that the sportspersons should be given due honours which had led to making a conducive environment for the sportspersons in the state and they were also provided all the facilities to excel in their field, he said.

Process had been started for Boxing Akademi at Bhiwani and Cricket Akademi at Jhajjar, he said. He said that there was no dearth of talent in traditional games in Haryana. Even in the smallest of the villages of the state, the youth were highly enthusiastic for wrestling.

The Wrestling Akademi at Bahadurgarh would give further impetus and prove a milestone for encouraging the young and budding talent to grow in a safe and supportive environment, he said. He said that on the initiatives of the State Government,sports stadia, equipped with sufficient number of coach and other sports paraphernalia, were being constructed in the villages of the state.
