MUMBAI: Indian Overseas Bank, Chennai clinched the men’s title in the 23rd Ramu Memorial Basketball Tournament, at the Indian Gymkhana on Wednesday night.
The favourites IOB, got off to a good start when they dominated the first two quarters to eventually win the match 75-69. But their troubles began in the third quarter as Indian Army surged to 64-56 lead to come back
into the match, with ‘Player of the Tournament’ Sambhaji Kadam playing a pivotal role.
But the army men lost their way in the fourth and final quarter after missing the target on numerous occasions. IOB capitalised on their opponents’ poor shooting as well as a vulnerable defence to snatch the lead again.
