Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was fined 20% of his match fee for arguing with the on-field umpire during his team's match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad on Friday.

However, captain Virat Kohli who also had a heated exchange with the same umpire before Karthik, has not been fined or warned.

According to a media release issued by the IPL, "Match referee Roshan Mahanama found Mr Karthik guilty of the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.8) of conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game. For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."

The incident took place during RCB's rain-curtailed game against SRH. Kohli rushed to on-field umpire Kumar Dharamsena after the last over of the SRH innings, protesting the decision to carry on with play despite continuous drizzle.
