Ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has predicted this Indian player to become the tournament's highest wicket-taker.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who is a well-known cricket analyst as well, has predicted the highest wicket-taker in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.

In a clip released on the Star Sports Twitter page, Irfan along with other experts has shared their input with respect to the potential top wicket-taker of the tournament. According to Irfan, the Indian cricketer who can outplay others in the bowling department can be Kuldeep Yadav.

Not only Irfan, but other experts including Sanjay Manjarekar, Vinay Kumar and Mithali Raj agreed upon Kuldeep to be the lead wicket-taker. However, there were also some eyes rolling towards Jasprit Bumrah to be the lead wicket-taker.

Currently, the left-arm wrist spinner holds the 10th spot in the ICC ODI Bowling ranking. His performance in the recent Asia Cup 2023 has also been commendable as he picked up 9 wickets in 5 matches, including the five-wicket haul against Pakistan helping India to win by 228 runs.

The Indian team are in Kerala for their warm-up match against the Netherlands which got dismissed due to rain. This is the second warm-up match of India where rain played a spoilsport. Now, India will be gearing up for their first ODI World Cup 2023 match against Australia on 8 October at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Recently, India also won the ODI series against Australia but couldn’t clinch a historical whitewash victory as the series resulted in 2-1.
