Arsenal's Jack Wilshere will miss the Euro 2012 finals due to injury, said club manager Arsene Wenger.

The 20-year-old has been out for the entire English Premier League season because of a stress fracture in an ankle.

He was hoping to return to the Arsenal first team before the end of the season but this will now not be possible, Wenger said.

"Jack Wilshere will not play again this season and he will not go to the Euros," Wenger was quoted as saying by Xinhua. "That is for sure. He is not ready to practice today and won't be next week. He has made slow progress.

"He is devastated, which you can understand as it was what kept him going until now. His progress is not quick enough just to hope to go to the Euros."
