"It's a dream come true," he told newspersons in Jamshedpur last night.
The 20-year-old local lad said he would have to perform in the tournament to prove his mettle.
"Obviously, there will be pressure on me and I am confident I will not disappoint the selectors, who reposed faith in me," Tiwari, who scored 419 runs for the Mumbai Indians in the last edition of IPL, said.
JSCA president, Amitabh Choudhury, said Tiwari would earn laurels for the state as well as the county like his senior teammate Dhoni.
