Real Madrid star Kaka was left out of the Brazilian football squad that takes on Bosnia in their first friendly of the year Wednesday in Switzerland.
Kaka played in the final two games of 2011 as Brazil beat Gabon and Egypt, but while coach Mana Menezes said he respects the player's abilities, he refused to give any explanation.
"I'm not going to give an explanation for every player not selected," Menezes was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
Ronaldinho and Neymar have been included in the squad. Ronaldinho, who is approaching 32, is still showing flashes of his old brilliance with Flamengo.
The squad arrived in Switzerland Sunday and Menezes said that "Bosnia are a quality rival, who only just missed out on a berth at the Euro 2012 finals".
The Bosnians, currently ranked 19th in the world, failed to gain a place in Poland and Ukraine. Brazil. who will be hosting the 2014 World Cup are currently seventh in the FIFA standings.
