KARACHI: Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik will be available for the upcoming home series against Zimbabwe after fresh MRI scans showed his ankle injury picked up during the Test series in India had improved.
A Pakistan Cricket Board official today said scans have shown the ankle was healing and Malik's plaster would be removed after a week.
"He will start training after a week and should be available for the series against Zimbabwe," the official said.
Zimbabwe will tour Pakistan from January 12 to play five one-day internationals.
Malik had hurt his ankle while playing football after Pakistan's defeat in the first Test in New Delhi. He subsequently missed the next two Tests in Kolkata and Bangalore where Younis Khan led the side.
PCB is planning to hold a short conditioning camp for the Zimbabwe series in which some new players are expected to be given a chance.
