Roberto Mancini has set his eyes on the Premier league title after losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup third-round tie.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has set his eyes on the Premier league title after losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup third-round tie.

He also praised his side's performance against Manchester United despite being knocked out of the FA Cup, which they won last year and claimed that his team is well on its way to win the Premier League.

City were trailing 3-0 at the half time with ten men down but pegged in two goals during the second half to almost complete a sensational comeback. They eventually lost 3-2 against United.

"I think this is important for us in the league. I think now we can win the title. United have the top squad in England and if we can play like we did against them with 10 players, with that same attitude and same strength in every game, we will win," said Mancini.

Mancini expressed his frustration after losing to their bitter rivals but was contended with his player's efforts.

"The feeling is good because we played a good game. I'm happy with our performance and proud of my players," he added.

He also went on to compare his team's performance with 10 men on the field to United's performance with 10 men at Old Trafford, The Sun reports.

"I am disappointed to lose the game but I think we still took two steps forward after this because we have shown character," he said.

"When United played with 10 men against for 40 minutes at Old Trafford they lost 6-1.We played for 80 minutes with 10 and didn't concede any chances in the second half. We wanted to defend very well and not concede a chance. We knew it was not impossible but very difficult to score three goals," he added.
