Will former India cricketer Chandrakant Pandit, chairman of Mumbai Cricket Association’s Cricket Improvement Committee, be asked to step down? Pandit, who is also the director of the Rajasthan Cricket Association’s indoor academy, has been accused of conflict of interest.

The issue is part of MCA’s agenda at the managing committee meeting today. In the previous meetings, some MCA members wanted Pandit sacked as CIC chief. It is learnt he was also pressurised into relinquishing the position. Pandit, however, has attended all the CIC meetings.

“It is unfair to ask Pandit to resign because of conflict of interest. Many MCA members have done the same and are still doing it,” one MCA official told DNA. Those opposing him strongly insist that he shouldn’t be holding two positions together.

Apart from Pandit issue, the committee will approve the audited statement of accounts for this fiscal year. It will also discuss Lalchand Rajput’s reply to a showcause notice. Rajput had spoken uninhibitedly on lack of activity at MCA’s Bandra-Kurla complex despite being chairman of the MCA’s indoor academy sub-committee.

The new Kanga League schedule — starting on August 5 — will be presented for approval.
