Out of form Pakistan middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq would be leaving for New Zealand on Saturday (November 28) to join the team for the three match Test series.

Following the miserable performance by the batsmen in the first innings of the first Test match at Dunedin, selectors have decided to send Misbah to fulfil the gap created in the middle-order by Younus Khan’s absence.

Misbah, 35, has been awful form, which saw him being axed from all the three teams for the Kiwi series.

However, following Younus’ decision to sit out of the series, the selectors were left with no option but to send the right-handed batsman.

The PCB was not in favour of sending any replacement for Younis Khan, but stand-in captain Mohammad Yousuf urged the selectors that the team needed experienced players like Misbah in the team.

“Pakistan already have 17 players in New Zealand then what’s the need to send another man there,” one of the selectors had said earlier.

Yousuf had said that Misbah has been performing well in the domestic season and done well at the international level in the past, so he must be there on the Kiwi tour.
