New York Jets wide receiver Devin Smith will miss the 2017 season after tearing his ACL prior to the start of organized team activities earlier this month, general manager Mike Maccagnan said on Saturday.
A second-round pick in 2015, Smith has been plagued by injuries. As a rookie he fractured his ribs on the second day of training camp.
He returned but suffered torn knee ligaments late in the 2015 season and was unavailable until midway through 2016.
Smith has played in just 14 games over two seasons, catching just one pass for 20 yards last year.
This latest injury is to the same knee, leaving Smith's future with the Jets in question. (Writing by Jahmal Corner in Los Angeles; editing by Amlan Chakraborty)
