Paul the psychic octopus of FIFA World Cup fame maybe dead, but that doesn't mean the predicting the results in key events has gone down south, for now, a mystic monkey in North Tyneside has correctly the results of the Ashes series so far.
According to The Sun, Jack the cotton-top tamarin has stunned keepers with his fortune-telling skills and could become a massive star if his streak continues.
He is making his sporting predictions at Tynemouth's Blue Reef Aquarium, and has so far correctly foretold the results of the first two Ashes Test matches.
Jack correctly called a draw in Brisbane and a win for England at Adelaide using a simple method.
Jack is put before two bowls of food - one England, and the other Australia.
The one he picks is said to be the winner, but if he leaves them both, a draw is on the cards.
An aquarium representative, Anna Etchells, said: "We were challenged to see if we were able to come up with a rival to Paul the octopus, who correctly predicted Germany's results in the World Cup Finals.
"Although we do have our own octopus, we took the view that monkeys are significantly more intelligent than cephalopods and decided to give Jack the opportunity," she added.
"So far, he has 100% record," Etchells said.
The cotton-top tamarin gets its name from the white crest of hair on its head and chest.
They are among the smallest of the primates, often weighing no more than half-a-kilogramme and with a total length of just 30cm.
"If he manages to go through the whole series predicting each result it would equate to odds of 243 to one," Etchells said.
