LAS VEGAS: Former American football star OJ Simpson has been arrested by Las Vegas police in connection with an alleged armed robbery in a casino hotel room.

He was booked on Sunday on suspicion of one count of robbery with a deadly weapon.

The alleged robbery involved sports memorabilia taken from a room at the Palace Station Casino. Simpson had been questioned Friday by police, who said at the time that he was cooperating.

The alleged victim, a sports memorabilia dealer, had reported a robbery at gunpoint involving Simpson and three other men.

Simpson's double-murder trial over the 1994 stabbings of ex-wife Nicole Simpson Brown and her friend Ron Goldman became a worldwide spectacle. He was acquitted in 1995 in the criminal trial but was held financially liable for their deaths in a lawsuit two years later.

Simpson's arrest was the second in the case.

Earlier on Saturday, Walter Alexander, 47, was arrested on suspicion of robbery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and burglary with use of deadly weapon, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, citing Clark County jail records.
