Sachin Tendulkar etched his name in history by scoring 100 international centuries, including 49 ODI centuries. His first ODI ton though, took a long time coming.
On September 9, 1994, after playing 78 ODIs, Sachin finally scored a century in his 79th. He made 110 off 130 balls against Australia in the third match of the Singer World Series also featuring Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
.
India made 246/8 off their 50 overs, and then bowled Australia out for 215 to win the match by 31 runs.
Tendulkar's first ODI century would be followed by a golden period which endured well into the early 2000s. He would go on to hold the record for most ODI centuries and be regarded as one of the greatest ODI batsmen of all time, perhaps second only to Sir Vivian Richards.
What's more, his first ODI ton came against Australia, the team he would torment for the rest of his career, embellishing his reputation along the way.
