Pakistan sports minister Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani has rejected reports that the recent amendments in the constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will leave the board powerless.

“Cricket is a game that is loved by every Pakistani and we are moving towards making things more streamlined which will, in the long term, will strengthen the base of the game. The role of the PCB, members of the NA Standing Committee, Senate and representatives bodies is extremely commendable in finalizing this historic document,” The Dawn quoted Jakhrani, as saying.

He further emphasized that his ministry will ensure that the PCB remains an autonomous and independent body.

“Pakistan cricket needed a constitution of a kind to contain the basic ingredients of law. The character of the board should be participatory, representative and democratic wherein procedural accountability and transparency prevails in letter and spirit,” Jakhrani said.
