The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) six member committee probing the national team’s disastrous Australia tour has summoned all rounder Shahid Afridi to explain his shameful act of biting the ball during the last one-day international in Perth.
“Yes, we have also summoned Afridi on Friday. We have been directed by the board chairman to treat this inquiry very seriously and not spare anyone found guilty of not doing his duty in Australia,” PCB’s chief operating officer (COO) Wasim Bari said.
Apart from Afridi, Yousuf and Alam, the PCB inquiry committee led by Bari has also summoned team manager Abdul Raqueeb for its first hearing.
Former fast bowler Wasim Akram has also been included in the committee.
Bari said the committee would speak to all the team officials and players and also get feedback from the media and other independent sources in Australia during the course of its probe.
“The idea behind this probe is to suggest ways to put Pakistan cricket back on the right track,” The Daily Times quoted Bari, as saying.
