Along with coach Peter Moores, former England captain Kevin Pietersen tried to get rid of batting coach Andy Flower as well, according to media reports.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen tried to get rid of batting coach Andy Flower along with coach Peter Moores, according to media reports here.

The Guardian quoted an unnamed England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) official who said that apart from Moores, Flower too figured in Pietersen's hate list. "Pietersen wanted half of them out and certainly Andy Flower," the official was quoted as saying.

"I don't know what he was hoping to achieve, but I've never encountered an ego quite like it in cricket. He wanted to run the show."

"I did hear that Kevin wanted Andy out," another management board member said.

The revelation came amid speculation that Flower would take over as interim coach for England's tour of the West Indies.

Flower, however, kept himself away from the controversy. He said, "I had heard something about this but not enough to make a comment. I have always had a good relationship with KP, but we have not spoken in the past few days."

The Pietersen-Moores feud dates back to the India tour but the relationship between captain and coach broke down completely after Moores and the other selectors ignored Michael Vaughan for the West Indies tour against Pietersen's wish.

Pietersen subsequently issued an 'either-me-or-him' ultimatum and eventually both he and Moores had to leave their posts.
