MOHALI (Punjab): As Mohali prepares to host the second test match between India-Australia Oct 17, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) president IS Bindra said on Thursday that the security of the players was their top priority.
"We have no problem of security at PCA and have already strengthened it in the premises. However, if we receive any special request from Cricket Australia (CA) or Government of India or from any Australian player then we are ready to make special arrangements as per their demands," said Bindra.
"Players' safety is our utmost priority and both the teams can come here with no fear in their minds," he added.
"During the match, we will increase the number of security personnel but at the same time we will also try and minimize the common person's problems due to excessive security checks. The security will be unobtrusive," said Bindra.
"Our security arrangements will be at par with security arrangements found in countries like Australia and England during the matches," Bindra said.
The Australian team is expected to reach India by September end. They will play at the PCA Mohali, some 10 km from Chandigarh, Oct 17.
"India-Australia test series has gained prominence over the Ashes test series and any other India-Pakistan series. Both the teams are equally balanced and spectators here are expecting a thrilling contest," Bindra said.
On the issue of black marketing of match tickets, Bindra said: "We cannot do anything on this issue as we do not have any control over the tickets once they are sold. Such things happen every time and we can only try to minimize it by not giving the tickets in bulk to any single person."
