Racing, who are also looking to sign international striker Jackson Martinez of Colombian champions Independiente Medellin, finished 16th in the Argentine Apertura championship last month.

Argentine striker Claudio Bieler, who helped Ecuador's LDU Quito win South America's top two club trophies in the last two years, is joining Racing Club in his home country, a club official said.

Bieler, little known in Argentina before he won the Libertadores Cup in 2008 and the Copa Sudamericana in 2009 with LDU, would sign a contract with Racing on Tuesday, club vice-president Pablo Podesta told La Red radio station.

The 25-year-old striker, who scored 22 goals for LDU in the Ecuadorean championship last season, and was top marksman in the Sudamericana with a tally of eight, helped Colo Colo win the Chilean league title in 2007.
