MUMBAI: Czech world number 10 Radek Stepanek has pulled out of next week's inaugural ATP Mumbai Open due to injury, organisers said on Saturday.
Chile's world number 12 Fernando Gonzalez, a doubles gold medallist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and German world number 23 Nicolas Kiefer will also miss the event, which begins on Monday.
"Stepanek has pulled out due to a back injury and Kiefer has injured his wrist," tournament director Gaurav Natekar told reporters.
"No reason has been given for Gonzalez pulling out."
Frenchman Fabrice Santoro and Greg Rusedski of Britain have also withdrawn. Spanish world number seven Tommy Robredo heads the field, which has Croatian Mario Ancic as the second seed.
The 22-year-old Ancic, ranked world number 11, made a successful return from injury last week when he finished runner-up to Cypriot Marcus Baghdatis in the China Open.
The Mumbai Open will be the second ATP tournament in India after the Chennai Open, which was launched 10 years ago.
