Rahul Dravid feels that the corporate and public sector companies have played a crucial role in promoting the game.

The former India captain, speaking at the launch of the  Corporate Trophy, appeared confident that it would become a significant event.

“Not long back, when the state associations didn’t have enough funds at their disposal, practice sessions happened only during the Ranji Trophy season. It was during that time that the corporates came in and supported the development of the game,” Dravid said.
“There have been great rivalries between teams. In Mumbai there was Tata, Nirlon and Mafatlal, in Chennai, India Cements and Chemplast and in Bangalore the rivalry was between teams like the SBI and Syndicate Bank,” he reminisced.

The inaugural Corporate Trophy will run from September 1 to 8.
