Rajasthan Royals and Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) on Monday told the Bombay High Court that they have agreed to the appointment of retired Supreme Court judge, Justice BN Srikrishna as the sole arbitrator to resolve their dispute over termination of the former’s franchisee agreement. Kings XI Punjab, another terminated franchisee, also readily agreed to accept the judge’s arbitration. Justice SJ Vazifdar was hearing a petition filed by the erstwhile Indian Premier League franchisee challenging the agreement of their franchise agreement by BCCI on October 10, 2010. Royal’s counsel Janak Dwarkadas said, “As far as Jaipur IPL is concerned we are agreed to go to Justice Srikrishna as sole arbitrator. We also learnt BCCI also approached him.’’ BCCI lawyer Raju Subramanium confirmed the development to the court. Dwarkadas urged the court for urgent directions saying BCCI has already begun auctions. He also submitted that there be no further pleadings and those made before the court be treated as pleadings before the arbitrator.
