Team owner Dinesh Reddy believes that Indian drivers don’t lack in abilities
CHENNAI: One needs to have the courage of conviction to invest most part of his earnings for passion. That’s what Dinesh Reddy has done, investing his wealth into promoting his dream - Red Rooster Racing.
Luckily for him, the team in its very first year has come up with a commendable performance with driver Gaurav Dalal on the verge of clinching the Formula Rolon Chevrolet title with one round to spare in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship.
“Idea for starting a team was there for a long time. But to promote such an initiative you need so many things to be in place. There should be critical mass in the sports, which should be able to attract the team to come into existence. When I felt that the technical expertise was at my disposal, we decided to launch a team,” said the Bangalore resident, who’s family was once the owner of Nutrine Confectionery before it was sold to Godrej Group.
At a time when the team is having an excellent run in the Formula Rolon, they have come up some good results in Indian National Rally Championship as well. But did he expect so much in such a short span? “Honestly no,” he said. “But saying so, I don’t mean we didn’t expect it and it happened. We worked towards excellence. We were hoping to get into top three of any series we entered.”
If things fall in places, Reddy has bigger plans for Indian motorsports in the near future. “I believe that Indian drivers in no way lack in abilities. They can compete with the best if they get the sponsorship at the right time.”
While Team Red Rooster has ambitions to burst into international arena, starting with two-wheelers they also want to concentrate on grassroot level.
