Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has overcome his finger injury and is now set to take the field against Australia in the second Test match starting Sunday (January 3 ) at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Australian Ricky Ponting admitted that Kaneria would add sting to the Pakistani bowling line-up and could trouble the Aussie batsmen with his wrist spin.

“He's a very good bowler but I saw his record come up against some of the great spinners of the last 10 years and it stacks up very well against the best of them. His record is actually better than Abdul Qadir and everyone knows how highly regarded he was,” The Age quoted Ponting, as saying.

Kaneria has 245 Test wickets from just 56 matches.

The last time he played at the SCG , he grabbed seven wickets against the home side.Kaneria’s figures of 7 for 188 during the 2004/05 series shows that he enjoys bowling here.
