Demigod for millions of Indians, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar has moved a notch closer to receive Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour.
Giving full weightage to the sports and youth affairs minister, Ajay Maken’s proposal to include sports as an area of inclusion for conferring the Bharat Ratna, home ministry, the nodal ministry for national honours, has forwarded the letter to the prime minister’s office with strong recommendation and suggesting amendments in its guidelines by including the field of sports.
As per the guidelines, Bharat Ratna is awarded for exceptional service towards advancement of art, literature and science, and in recognition of public service of the highest order.
