Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara replaced Virender Sehwag at the top of International Cricket Council (ICC) batting Test rankings in Dubai today.
Sangakkara, who scored 219 and 42 not out against India in the second Test at Colombo, reclaimed the top spot after 2009. Sehwag made 99 runs in the first innings and did not bat in the second after the match ended a draw in Colombo on Friday.
Sachin Tendulkar also climbed two places to take fourth position in the Reliance Mobile ICC players rankings after his impressive double century in Colombo.
Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka is at third place while Michael Clarke of Australia occupies the fifth spot.
In the bowling chart, Dale Steyn is number one followed by Pakistan's Mohammad Asif. Spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan stands at number three position two weeks after his retirement.
England's James Anderson has climbed four places to claim fifth position after taking 11 wickets in the first Test against Pakistan. He is behind team-mate Graeme Swann, who is now 14 ratings points ahead of the fast bowler.
