Tennis star Sania Mirza and her cricketer husband Shoaib Malik will be "ambassadors of goodwill gesture" both for India and Pakistan, a Pakistani minister said today.
"We are branding Sania and Shoaib together for India and Pakistan. They are the ambassadors of goodwill gesture for both India and Pakistan, it is not only Pakistan," Population Welfare Minister of the neighbouring country Firdous Aashiq Awan said at a FICCI function in New Delhi.
Awan who attended Sania's marriage in Hyderabad said, the sport stars are "brand ambassadors of goodwill for population, and family planning on health issues for both the countries. That clarification I want to give."
She had said yesterday that Indian tennis sensation and her husband would be promoting Pakistan's population welfare programmes when the couple reaches there.
"When they (Sania-Shoaib) reach Pakistan...they will be designated brand ambassador at an official function," Awan had said.
