NEW DELHI: Sania Mirza moved up three places in her singles rankings to be placed 66th in the latest singles rankings list, released by the Woman's Tennis Association (WTA) on Monday.
According to the WTA website, the 19-year-old Indian accumulated 383 points to move three places up in the rankings list. In the doubles ranking, Sania also moved up one place to the 24th spot with a total of 1,070 points.
The Indian started the year with a career high rank of 31st that she achieved in October last year. She also defeated Martina Hingis in the second round of the Korea Open in September, but after that a string of poor performances resulted in the downslide.
Sania, is currently practising for the Asian Hopman Cup mixed team championship to be held at her hometown Hyderabad from Nov 22. She will pair with ace Indian player Leander Paes.
In the men's doubles ranking list, Paes is still in the 12th place with 3,190 points, while Mahesh Bhupathi moved up one place to the 30th spot with 1,400 points.
