NEW DELHI: Sania Mirza's opening encounter against Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain was interrupted due to rain at the USD 600,000 Pilot Pen Tennis tournament at New Haven, USA.

The Indian star was trailing 0-1 in the first set against the 33-ranked Medina in the only match postponed due to rain on Monday.

The match will resume at the Grandstand after 11.30 local time on Tuesday.

Sania will team up with Mara Santangelo of Italy to open her doubles campaign against the American duo of Corina Morariu and Meghann Shaughnessy.
