Karachi: Former Pakistani pace bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has said that the news about the appointment of Waqar Younis as head coach even prior to the deadline for submission of applications for the position is a bad reflection on the coach selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Although the last date for submission of applications for the coaches ended on Monday with the three-man committee, including Moin Khan, Haroon Rasheed and Intikhab Alam, set to select the officials, media reports claimed that the position had been offered to Younis.

According to The Nation, Nawaz, who expressed disappointment at the news, said that it is improbable that Younis was offered the contract even before the deadline for submission of applications.

Nawaz also slammed the recalling of ageing players like Mohammad Sami and Yasir Hameed among the 36 probables for the month-long summer camp at the Gaddafi Stadium starting from May 6 as a bad move, saying that younger players should have been given the chance.
