LUCKNOW: Former Indian batsman Navjot Singh Sidhu was scathing in his attack against the Indian Cricket board and its selection process for all the ills afflicting the game in the country.
"BCCI is like a Marwari (businessman) whose product-standard is going down day by day but it is not answerable to anyone," Sidhu told newspersons here.
"Though BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world yet the ranking of its team has slipped to the eighth spot from second," he said.
Sidhu also found fault with selection process.
"The faces of the selectors change but the selection process as well as team's fortunes remain the same.
Before selecting a team for a foreign tour, an assessment of players should be made keeping in mind the foreign conditions. There should be a change in the selection process," Sidhu said while also advocating changes in the pitches for the domestic competitions.
On leaving out Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly from the one-day squad for the Bangladesh tour, Sidhu said "perhaps it has been done to give chance to youngsters."
