Geoff Ogilvy has victory in his sights at this week's Tour Championship but he was prepared to be sleep-deprived for Saturday's third round because of his passion for the Australian Football League (AFL).
Ogilvy's favourite team, St Kilda, were scheduled to take on Collingwood in the AFL Grand Final in Melbourne in the early hours of Saturday US time and he planned to watch the game in his hotel room on television.
"The game starts at about 12:30 and it'll finish at about 3:00 in the morning," the 33-year-old Australian told reporters after shooting a three-under-par 67 in Friday's second round at East Lake Golf Club.
"I'll get a bit of sleep. It's less than ideal but I'm not going to miss watching this game."
Ogilvy ended a hot and humid day at East Lake at seven-under 133, one stroke behind co-leaders Luke Donald of Britain and American Jim Furyk.
The Australian is scheduled to tee off in the penultimate pairing of the third round at 11:15 a.m. (1515 GMT) on Saturday and never considered not watching an AFL team he has supported since he was a 10-year-old.
"St Kilda is the hard luck club of the league almost," Ogilvy said. "It's won one premiership in 140 years. A lot of people will be crying when they walk out of the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) if they win.
"A lot of people have lived their whole life and not seen St Kilda win a premiership. It would be pretty huge. There will be 100,000 people there. It will be a good game."
However little sleep he gets before teeing off in the Tour Championship third round, Ogilvy likes his chances of winning the final event of the PGA Tour''s lucrative playoff series.
"I'm pretty happy with my form," the seven-times tour champion said. "I hit some shots that I didn't like today but I hit quite a lot of good ones that I did like. I'm putting well, and whenever you putt well you can win golf tournaments.
"I came here knowing I was playing quite well. I won't lose any sleep over it if I don't (win). But I might lose some sleep if Collingwood wins the flag," Ogilvy added with a grin.
