Attacking Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt for not revealing the truth about the board’s financial status and distorting facts, former captain Aamir Sohail has challenged Butt for a live television debate.

“I am ready to face Ijaz in a televised debate on the board’s affairs, and I will then highlight the facts. Since resigning, I have tried to keep quiet but the way facts are being distorted, it is frustrating,” Sohail said.

Sohail said he is fed up with Butt’s claims regarding saving millions of rupees for the board.

“Ijaz claims that during his tenure he has saved millions of rupees for the board unlike the previous boards but he should tell the truth how the savings have come about,” The Daily Times quoted Sohail, as saying.

The dashing former opener said while the board may have saved millions of rupees by announcing severe cost cutting measures, the game of cricket continues to suffer in the country at the domestic level.

“The cuts in the budget have been made at the cost of development programmes of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) which is affecting the growth of young talent, domestic cricket but the salaries and perks being drawn by top officials of the board remain the same,” said Sohail, who had resigned as Director Game Development and head of the NCA earlier this year after altercations with Butt.

He pointed out that PCB’s administrative expenses remains the same despite the cost cuttings.
